A portable hand washing station has 2 sinks, each with a foot pump, so 2 people wash at once. The station holds about 20 gallons of fresh water and a separate gray-water tank. Soap and paper towel dispensers are mounted on the station, and a trash bin goes beside it.

How many hand wash stations do I need?
Plan 1 hand wash station for every 2 to 3 porta potties at an event with food. A job site with up to 20 workers needs 1 station. Set each station right beside the toilets, so guests use it on their way out. A station across the yard gets skipped.

OSHA's construction rule, 1926.51(f), requires washing facilities where workers handle paints, coatings, herbicides or other harmful materials. Food vendors at South Carolina events need their own hot-and-cold handwashing sink under the SC Department of Agriculture temporary food rules. Our guest stations are cold-water units and do not replace a vendor sink.

Is the hand washing option just a sanitizer bottle?
A hand wash station has real running water from a foot pump, plus soap and towels. A sanitizer dispenser is a different, smaller add-on mounted inside the toilet. Ask for whichever you need; they are priced separately.
Is the sink attached to the porta potty?
A hand wash station is a separate, free-standing unit. If you want a sink inside the toilet, rent a deluxe flushing unit.
Is the water heated?
Our hand wash stations use cold fresh water. They are meant for guests and crews, not for food vendors who need hot water by law.
How often is the station refilled on a job site?
On 28-day rentals, the station is drained, cleaned and refilled with fresh water at every weekly service. Soap and towels are restocked at the same visit.
My hand wash station is leaking. What should I do?
Call dispatch with the site address. A leaking pump or valve is fixed or the station is swapped, usually on the next route day, at no charge.
