Short party

Up to 4 hours

Plan 1 standard unit for every 50 guests.

Longer party

5 hours or more

5 to 8 hours: 1 unit per 40 guests. Over 8 hours: 1 unit per 30 guests.

Serving drinks?

Add for alcohol

Add 1 unit for every 4 base units, with a minimum of 1 extra unit.

100 guests, 6 hours, open bar

100 ÷ 40 = 3 units, rounded up. Add 1 for alcohol.

Add hand wash stations

Plan 1 hand wash station for every 2 to 3 toilets. Each has 2 foot-pump sinks, soap and towels.
